"In 1976, it was 'dineresque.' Now it's as much a part of the town as the Sample Gates or Assembly Hall. It's a source of great town pride, where people come 'to show Bloomington off' to our guests.

- Chef Michael Cassady

In 1976, at the age of 26, Chef Michael Cassady opened a 30-seat café that could only be described as "dineresque." Known for hearty breakfasts, exemplary American dining and an insightful staff, it's no wonder that The Uptown Café has blossomed into the Bloomington landmark that it is today.
