Michael Cassady has lived in Bloomington since 1967. He has a wife, Crystal, and six sons. He loves soccer with a passion, and occasionally has the soccer channel playing on the television in the Uptown Bar.
In a moment of inspiration and mental clarity, he started the Uptown Cafe in 1976. It immediately became the diner of choice for the musicians and artists of Bloomington.
As his clientele grew to include professors, students, politicians, beatniks, bank presidents, graffiti artists, farmers, inventors, accountants, teachers, construction workers, mothers, truckers, people in the witness protection program, orchestra conductors, train conductors, circus clowns, oil wildcatters, pet therapists, dream interpreters, and webmasters, so did Michael's menu expand. It now includes Cajun and Creole specialties from New Orleans, as well as real American dishes with a distinctive attitude.
He has been cooking his whole life. He'd like to cook something for you.
